The birth place of swedish poet Gustaf Fröding, the manor is located 8 km east of Karlstad.

Alsters herrgård is the countryside estate where Gustaf Fröding, one of Sweden’s most beloved poets was born. The mansion is beautifully situated eight kilometers east of Karlstad and is open daily during the summer. There is an exhibition about Gustaf Fröding, manor park, cafe, restaurant, handicraft and souvenir shops and an art gallery. Alsters herrgård is overlooking Lake Vänern and is surrounded by beautiful nature and hiking trails.

Guided tours of the Gustaf Fröding exhibition: May 1st - September 30: Monday-Sunday 12 pm, 2 pm and 4 pm (excluding some dates due to events like markets and midsummer)

Note! The exhibition is only open when there is a guided tour and the tours are only held in Swedish. Guided tours in english can be arranged on demand.
