Walk in an old cultural landscape

Flora and fauna

The easily weathered clay slate in the nature reserve forms a nutrient-rich soil. This, in combination with a long time mowing, has created conditions for the variation among the flora in the area. The floral glory is greatest in the late spring. You will see flowers like cowslips, blue anemones, wood anemones and violets. The area also has a rich birdlife. You may even find the rare white-backed woodpecker in the reserve.

Restoration

When the meadow became a nature reserve in 1975, the overgrowth had gone wild. The work of opening up and mowing the area has been ongoing ever since, and the landscape is now partially recreated to its original state. You will find two beautiful hiking tracks, a few kilometers long, in the area and information signs at the parking lot.

Driving directions

The entrance to the road to nature reserve parking lot is near Edsleskogs church.
